Co Create: A Residency for Regenerative Practice Web Content

Where continuity meets creativity. Where community replaces competition. Where you don’t have to prove yourself to begin again.

Welcome to Co Create—a residency-in-action for artists, designers, technologists, and cultural workers who want to sustain their practice without burning out. Born from a deep belief in rhythm over pressure, care over hustle, and collaboration over isolation, Co Create is not a bootcamp. It’s a seasonal system for creative regeneration.

This is a place to start—or restart—with support. Whether you’re rebuilding momentum, returning from burnout, experimenting with new ideas, or simply looking for your people, Co Create meets you where you are and grows with you.

A Rhythmic Model for Creative Continuity

The Co Create Program unfolds across seasonal sprints—12 to 14 weeks of guided creative time aligned not with arbitrary deadlines, but with human energy and emotional cycles. There are no required deliverables, no final pitches. Instead, you’ll find flexible pathways, real-time support, and the spaciousness to explore.

  • Choose your own pace and goals

  • Join at any point in the year

  • Plug into a living, breathing system of care and creativity

Each week, you’ll move through a gentle but structured rhythm:

  • Lectures to inspire, provoke, and introduce thematic ideas

  • Labs to get hands-on with feedback, peer support, and prototyping

Formats That Hold You

Each seasonal sprint is scaffolded by five core event types—rituals that bring structure, connection, and momentum to your practice:

  1. Industry Seminars

Honest, artist- and peer-led conversations that surface lived experience, cultural critique, and emerging practice.

  2. Peer Roundtables

Small, reflective circles designed for sharing works-in-progress, receiving insight, and building trust.

  3. Co-Creation Labs

Fast-paced, one-day jams for collaboration, prototyping, and generative play.

  4. Creative Socials

Potlucks, open mics, film nights, dance floors. Because art doesn’t grow in isolation—and neither do we.

  5. Night Sessions

Lo-fi, ambient workspaces for late-night creation, spontaneous co-working, and quiet community flow.

And when the moment calls for it—block parties, performance nights, walking rituals—we make space to celebrate, rest, and reconnect.

Choose Your Learning Path: The Peer Modules

In Co Create, learning happens across a constellation of participant-led modules. Pick one. Pick three. Or just float between them. Each module weaves together tools, guest sessions, community facilitation, and space for self-direction.

The Modules

  • Culture, Community & Emerging Futures

AI, digital civics, ethics, futures literacy, and participatory design.

  • Creative Foundations

Visual arts, songwriting, emotional literacy, narrative architecture, and design thinking.

  • Innovation & Strategy

Branding, creative business models, fundraising, and resilient entrepreneurship.

  • Digital Creation

No-code tools, UX/UI, web dev, and creative coding.

  • Story, Screen & Sound

Film, editing, sound design, VFX, cross-disciplinary storytelling.

  • Collaborative Labs

Live briefs, group projects, guest-led intensives—applied creativity, in real time.

Modules are optional, non-hierarchical, and often led by participants. This is peer learning, reimagined.

Our Pedagogy: What We Believe

  • Peer-Led – Everyone teaches. Everyone learns. The wisdom is in the room.

  • Process-Based – We honour unfinished work and non-linear growth.

  • Care-Driven – Wellbeing isn’t an add-on. It’s part of the structure.

  • Open-Access – No gatekeeping. No performance thresholds. Just show up.

Co Create exists for those who have been excluded or exhausted by traditional institutions: regional artists, First Nations creators, neurodivergent makers, emerging voices, and everyone in between. This is your space, too.

Digital Backbone: The Residents Desk

While our bodies gather in space, our work continues online through The Residents Desk—a digital platform designed for creative documentation, shared learning, and asynchronous connection.

Through it, you’ll access:

  • Project planning tools and weekly content

  • Spaces for feedback, mentorship, and collaboration

  • Showcases for in-progress and finished work

  • A living archive of the residency, built collectively

The Desk keeps us connected across time zones, energy levels, and creative flows.

Six Ways We Support Emergence

Creativity isn’t a product. It’s a process of becoming. To support that becoming, Co Create draws on six generative modes of practice:

  1. Catalysation – Starting what needs to be started

  2. Curation – Making sense, assembling meaning

  3. Multisensation – Designing with sound, light, space, feeling

  4. Entrepreneurship – Building creative and economic sustainability

  5. Experience – Designing with emotional impact and narrative flow

  6. Gamification – Using interactivity and play to build momentum

These aren’t rules. They’re invitations—tools for unlocking new possibilities.

Why This Exists

The Co Create Program is built on one simple but urgent belief:

Creative life should be sustainable.

Too often, artists are forced to choose between expression and survival. Too often, cultural workers burn out before their work can flourish. Co Create was born to offer another way—a model that centres rhythm, return, and relationship.

We don’t ask you to perform. We ask you to show up, try, rest, repeat. To make with others. To share the load. To stay in it, together.

Whether you’re a technologist building with care, a musician rediscovering joy, or a multidisciplinary artist seeking continuity—Co Create is here to hold you.
